2014 SEC Tournament: No. 1 seed Florida advances to title game with 56-49 win over Tennessee

The No. 1 ranked Florida Gators are still the hottest team in the country, and they proved that once again on Saturday in the semifinals of the 2014 SEC Tournament with a 56-49 win over the Tennessee Volunteers.

Head coach Billy Donovan and his team had a scare in this one, however, as they had to surge back in the second half to keep on playing in the Georgia Dome. They were down 35-28 at the break, but were able to turn it on in the second half to advance to Sunday’s final game.

The regular season champs had three starters finish in double digits in this one, led by Patric Young who finished with 16 points and eight rebounds. Scottie Wilbekin added in 14, and Casey Prather dropped in 12 and added in five assists to hold off the Volunteers.

Now, the top-ranked Gators will await the winner of the next game between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Georgia Bulldogs which will get underway shortly on ABC.
