Detroit Tigers' Jose Iglesias will miss most of the season

Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias will be sidelined for most of the 2014 season after it was revealed that he’s dealing with a shin injury according to Jim Bowden on Twitter.

The injury that Iglesias suffered sounds like it’s worse than the club originally thought. Which could open the door for free agent infielder Stephen Drew, who won a World Series with the Boston Red Sox last season. It surprises me that Drew hasn’t been picked up yet, but this could be the break that he has been looking for.

With Iglesias shelved for majority of the year, it would give Stephen an opportunity to come into Detroit and hold onto that shortstop job for the year.

The Tigers could offer Drew a one year contract just to give Iglesias all the time he needs to make sure he’s 100 percent.
