The week of crashes and smashes during the Food City 500 practice runs at Bristol Motor Speedway went from concerning to downright ugly today when Landon Cassill had a frightening crash during Saturday’s practice.
The video below shows how part of Cassill’s left-rear axle apparently snapped off, and sent Cassill flying into the SAFER barrier below the wall. [Video credit: Fox Sports.com]
Fortunately, Cassill walked away from the crash of his Hillman Racing Chevrolet without injury, but will have to go with a backup car for Sunday’s race.
Earlier in the week, Danica Patrick, Kyle Busch and several other drivers crashed into walls and each other during the first day of practice at Bristol, forcing four of the drivers to also go with backup cars.
