The Los Angeles Dodgers are going to have to get creative with their outfield in the coming days as Carl Crawford will not be with the team when they travel to Australia to open Major League Baseball’s regular season against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Crawford, who has dealt with minor injuries this Spring, will be staying stateside to witness the birth of his child.
Carl Crawford will stay in Arizona and miss the trip to Australia because of the pending birth of his baby.
The Dodgers are not expected to have Matt Kemp available for the series either (though he could be ready when the Dodgers open their ‘normal’ schedule against the San Diego Padres) so that will leave Los Angeles without two of their starting three outfielders for the two-game Australian set.
It’s currently not known who the Dodgers will use to replace Crawford in the lineup, though, not exactly the way Los Angeles was likely hoping to open their season.
Arizona and Los Angeles will play the first of their two-game Australian set on March 22nd.
