Now that the New York Knicks have officially agreed to a deal with Phil Jackson, the rumors can get even bigger and spread even faster.
There is already a report suggesting the Knicks hired Jackson in a potential attempt to lure LeBron James away from the Miami Heat in the offseason.
Although James did flirt with the Knicks four years ago, that doesn’t seem to be a realistic scenario.
One positive the Jackson hire was presumed to have was the future of current Knicks’ star Carmelo Anthony.
However, according to Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN New York, Anthony says the hiring of Jackson won’t influence his decision.
Anthony said Jackson’s arrival won’t “have any effect” on his thinking or decision. The two still have to meet to talk about their futures and whether they are better off together.
“I haven’t talked to Phil yet, just to get his insight on a lot of things — what’s his plan, what’s his future plan,” Anthony told reporters. “Because everything’s in his hands now.”
This season, Anthony is averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.
