NBA Rumors: Steve Nash says Dwight Howard didn’t like playing with Kobe Bryant

Even though it should be an afterthought at this point, we’re still talking about the failed relationship between Dwight Howard and the Los Angeles Lakers. But, in the fans’ defense, so is Steve Nash, who recently told Bill Simmons of ESPN that the reason Howard was so unhappy in Los Angeles, ultimately, was that he didn’t want to be stuck in the situation with Kobe Bryant in the first place.

On paper, yes, the marriage between Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Dwight Howard looked like one of the best combinations in the history of the game. But if one of those stars is unhappy–much like and actual marriage–it’s just not going to work out, and that’s what we saw. That’s why it was very easy for Howard to make the decision to take off to the Houston Rockets, where he seems to be prospering like never before this year.

And while we did know all of this, it holds a little bit more weight when it comes from the mouth of someone like Nash.
