The television series True Detective, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, became incredibly popular in just one season. Unfortunately the two stars announced they wouldn’t be returning for a second season beginning a cycle of rumors and reports about who would be cast to replace the stars.
HollywoodLife.com is reporting that Brad Pitt is being cast.
“Brad’s name has come up many times, it’s just a matter of what his other commitments are,” an insider tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “It’s the show everyone wants to be on, because the writing and the roles are just so exquisite and complex. Brad has tight relations with HBO — he teamed up with Ryan Murphy last year to produce the HBO movie The Normal Heart. I know everyone would be thrilled to have him onboard.”
That certainly would be a big addition to the show and a capable star to carry the show into a second season. Whether it actually happens or not we’ll see. This report isn’t much more than a big “maybe,” but landing a star of Pitt’s caliber would facilitate landing a second big star.
