Freddie Freeman leaves Braves game with finger injury

In the same game that Ryan Doumit suffered a finger contusion after being hit by a foul ball, Freddie Freeman made an early exit from the Braves’ Spring Training game against the Yankees.

Freeman was playing first when a liner ricocheted off of his thumb. This could have been far worse for Braves fans, as Freeman suffered a thumb injury last year that sidelined him for quite a while. Kevin McAlpin of the Braves Radio Network, however, says that Freeman believes it’s not as serious as that one.

The plan is just for Freeman to ice it and rest it. Freeman’s take on the injury? “There’s no point in trying to be a hero in Spring Training, especially when we’re getting close to the end.”
