NCAA Selection Sunday 2014: Dick Vitale goes ballistic over Kentucky, Louisville seedings

Selection Sunday, March Madness and Dick Vitale. They’re a trifecta that when put together, can be caustic, depending on how things play out. Today Vitale let the world know in no uncertain terms how displeased he was with the 2014 NCAA Tournament seedings given to the Kentucky Wildcats and Louisville Cardinals.

On ESPN’s coverage of NCAA Selection Sunday, host Rece Davis segued to Vitale to get his reaction to the news that Kentucky–who had just lost the SEC championship game by one point–had been given a #8 seed in the midwest region, and Louisville–who many even projected to be a #1 seed after winning the inaugural AAC tourney–was saddled with a #4 seed in the same region.

A reaction is exactly what Davis got.

“No way shape or form you can convince me!” Vitale exclaimed in both cases, using his trademark “Unbelievable!” in a completely different context. “I cannot believe that Louisville, based on an eye test, is a number four seed…Louisville definitely, definitely got a raw deal.”

On Kentucky, Vitale’s arms flailed wildly (in typical fashion) as he basically accused the selection committee of trying to make things extra hard on #1 seed Wichita State by giving Kentucky the eight seed.

Dickie-V is rarely apologetic about his love for certain teams (hello Duke), but today he seemed absolutely flabbergasted about the treatment given to the Big Blue Nation and Big Red Louie by the NCAA selection committee.
