The Seattle Seahawks are still in the market to upgrade their defense, and that’s why they’re remaining open to the idea of signing former Minnesota Vikings sack artist Jared Allen.
After showing some interest in him last week, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Allen is headed back to Seattle for another visit with the Seahawks — one that may end with a contract.
Jared Allen spent today in Seattle visiting with the #Seahawks, source said. It was his first free agent visit. He’s now back at home.

The Seahawks didn’t sign Allen the first time around, but the arms race picking up in the AFC between the Broncos and Patriots may motivate them to get involved with some defensive padding. They doubled up on defensive ends in free agency last year with Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett, and Allen could be a replacement for Chris Clemons who left for Jacksonville.
Allen apparently has another mystery meeting this week, likely with the Dallas Cowboys, which means he could end up finding a deal before the week is out.
