When Henry Melton makes his way to Texas on Monday afternoon to visit the Dallas Cowboys, he’ll have an additional body with him – free agent quarterback Brandon Weeden.

The third year quarterback (who spent five seasons playing minor league baseball) was released by the Cleveland Browns last week after two pitiful seasons and is looking for a new home. Could the Cowboys be one? They obviously have interest.

"Defensive tackle Henry Melton, who is considered one of the last big-name defensive tackles available, is scheduled to visit the Cowboys, who are also planning to meet with quarterback Brandon Weeden, who was recently cut by the Browns."

So what’s the reasoning behind the Weeden visit given the Cowboys expect Kyle Orton to be their backup? Possibly nothing more than having Weeden in their back pocket if Orton was for some reason to retire, something that was suggested as recently as last month.

It’s also possible the Cowboys could bring Weeden in through training camp – just to see what he has – given Romo will be worked back in slowly.
