The Oakland Raiders lost a lot of defense this offseason, so there are plenty of holes to plug.

One such player thee team is looking to sign is free agent linebacker Rob Jackson, who spent last season with the Washington Redskins. Oakland is set to host Jackson in the coming days.

"OLB Rob Jackson will visit the Raiders this week. #Redskins"

Jackson had a relatively sub-par 2013 season, though, that wasn’t necessarily any fault of his own as he was regulated to a bench role. In 2012 however, filling in for the injured Brian Orakpo, Jackson picked up 4.5 sacks in 14 starts and was one of the more consistent forces on the Redskins linebacking core.

That said – if the Raiders and Jackson are to come to terms on a potential agreement, it’ll likely be in a backup role with Jackson getting some playing time on special teams as well.

By no stretch a splash signing if there is a deal to be made, but very solid depth for the Raiders – though fans were understandably hoping for a bigger addition than Jackson coming into free agency.
