Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis is coming off a monster season and plans to continue hitting the ball hard.
Davis, who turns 27 tomorrow (March 17th), was able to avoid arbitration with the Orioles over the winter and appears to be happy with the organization. But when will the team begin discussing a long-term contract extension?
The question is, is he disappointed that contract talks haven’t gotten very far? Davis told MASNSports:
“Not really, they took care of me this off-season. That was the biggest thing. Not having to go to arbitration. They have a lot of good problems to have. They have a lot of young talent. A lot of guys that are just coming into their prime at the right time in their career. With the moves that we’re making, I hope that’s a sign of things to come, but at the same time, you have to focus on your day-to-day job.” Davis via MASNSports.
Chris still has at least two seasons left before he has to worry about hitting the market. But I think the Orioles will give Chris Davis a contract extension before that ever happens.
