Seinfeld actor Newman death hoax: Wayne Knight confirms he's alive

On Sunday morning, a rumor surfaced on social media that Seinfeld actor Wayne Knight, who played Newman on the show, passed away in a car accident near the Pennsylvania-New York border.

Kane-based state police have identified the deceased as the lovable “Newman.” McKean County Coroner Jeff Levin said Knight died of blunt force trauma at the scene. Also injured in the crash were two of Knight’s passengers, Christopher Davidson, 33, and an unidentified male, both of New York state. Police say the unidentified male was ejected from the back seat of the sedan.

It is great to see Knight is alive and well.

It appears that pranksters created a fake TMZ site to pass off their hoax and they were able to fool plenty of people. As far as death hoaxes go, this one was as good and convincing as it gets. While it is impressive, it is still unfortunate to see people drumming up fake deaths.

Surely there has to be a more productive way to enjoy your weekend.
