2014 NFL Free Agency: Washington Redskins re-sign Brandon Meriweather

The Washington Redskins have been busy in free agency, most notably snatching away defensive lineman Jason Hatcher from their arch rivals in the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys.

They are also attempting to beat out the New England Patriots to sign former Tennessee Titans’ wide receiver Kenny Britt, who will visit the Redskins now that his visit with the Patriots is over.

On Monday, the Redskins brought back one of their own players, re-signing safety Brandon Meriweather, according to Dianna Marie Russini of NBC Washington.

ESPN’s John Keim confirmed the report.

Meriweather was drafted by the New England Patriots with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft. After four years in New England, the Patriots cut him and he joined the Chicago Bears in 2011.

He has played for the Redskins for the last two seasons, making 69 tackles and two interceptions in 13 games in 2013.
