The news for the Oakland Athletics’ pitching rotation continues to get worse.
In the same presser that announced that Jarrod Parker would undergo Tommy John surgery and miss 2014, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicale announced that free agent acquisition Scott Kazmir would be scratched from today’s split squad start against the Cubs with triceps tightness.
MLB.com’s Jane Lee says that Kazmir’s injury is not nearly as severe as either Parker’s or A.J. Griffin’s. The organization does not want to push Kazmir, and he will probably pitch in two days’ time. As a precaution, the veteran will see an orthopedist.
