The Boston Red Sox had a number of veteran players break through on low risk, short term deals last season en route to a World Series championship. Slugger Mike Napoli was one such player after the realization that he has a degenerative hip condition cost him a longer deal prior to the season.
After a tremendously productive 2013 campaign (.842 OPS), Napoli is back in Boston for two more years. With the team in their green St. Patrick’s Day uniforms, Napoli gave signs on Monday that he is shaping into form nicely for the 2014 season.
Napoli got an off-speed pitch down around his shins, but he had a beat on it and sent it a long, long way.
