Due to what has officially been called a non-displaced fracture of the patella and a bone bruise in his left knee, Los Angeles Lakers’ swingman Nick Young has missed 16 of the Lakers’ last 17 games.

Young, who is from Los Angeles and attended Southern Cal, loves playing for the Lakers, his childhood team. He wants to get back on the court as soon as he can so that he can soak up what could be the last few games of his Lakers’ career.

Young has player option worth $1.2 million for next season, but could try to use his improved season, his best since the 2010-11 season with the Washington Wizards, to get himself a raise and long term security.

“For me, I just want to go out there and just end it on a good note,” Young told Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles. “I want to get out there. This could be my last couple times playing here. You never know. I’m a Laker fan for life.”

Young is averaging 16.8 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game this season.
