The Chicago Bears may be getting one of their old defensive lineman back this year, as free gent edge rusher Israel Idonije will be back in Chicago visiting with the team this week. Idonije played for the Bears before leaving in 2013 to join up with the Detroit Lions, but NFL Network’s Albert Breer reports that a rekindling of the relationship could be in store.

The Bears seemed to be in the market for Jared Allen, but they appear to have cooled on the sack artist and are looking to fill their need on defensive line with a guy who knows the system. Idonije has been a guy who hear mentioned every so often on a good play, but hasn’t been an outstanding edge rusher in his career.

Still, a return to the familiar grounds of Soldier Field could be in order, as Idonije’s trip to Chicago this week could be an extended stay.
