March Madness: Mark Cuban says 'SMU got ripped off'

On Selection Sunday when teams headed to the NCAA tournament were announced there was one notable snub, the SMU Mustangs who were ranked in the top-25. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban commented on the local university’s snub on Monday.

“SMU got ripped off on that,” Cuban said, via the Dallas Morning News. “That was the only team I looked at since my Hoosiers aren’t going anywhere.”

SMU head coach Larry Brown tried to be more positive about the snub saying that it will serve as motivation.

“We appreciate you all coming out here and supporting our team. I feel like I let you down,” Brown said, via the Dallas Morning News.

“I learned a long time ago when things don’t go exactly your way, you can either pack it in or use it as a learning experience to get better. We can use this as motivation.”

Hopefully Brown and SMU can recapture the magic next year. For now they’re settling for a No. 1 seed in the National Invitation Tournament.
