The Baltimore Ravens may have brought back tight end Dennis Pitta on a huge deal that helped him avoid hitting the open market, they apparently aren’t done brining back players. Free agent tight end Ed Dickson has been floating around the market since it opened and the Ravens reportedly have an offer in to him that would see him return in 2014.

According to Aaron Wilson from the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens have extended a contract offer to Dickson they hope will counter the one already in from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Per the Baltimore Sun:

"Veteran free agent tight end Ed Dickson has been offered a contract to return to the Ravens, according to a source. The Jacksonville Jaguars have also offered Dickson a contract."

With Pitta back, it seems almost trivial to compete for the services of another tight end, but Dickson has proven he can work int he Ravens system and provides familiarity for the offense. He wasn’t a massive weapon in 2013, but he was serviceable and has been reliable in the past when need be.

Jacksonville clearly wants him and could make him a starter, but the Ravens are still in play to bring him back next season.
