Right off the bat in free agency this year, it was rumored that the New York Jets were very interested in signing Michael Vick. Those rumors almost immediately ceased to exist and the last we heard from Vick was the Bills saying last week they wont’ be signing a veteran backup.
This highlights the bad quarterback market this year in free agency, but Anwar S. Richardson from Yahoo! Sports penned a piece that states the lack of interest in Vick also highlights the end is nigh for the speedy former starter.
So far, Vick has not visited a team.
If you need further proof about the lack of interest in Vick, San Francisco gave up a sixth-round pick for Jacksonville’s Blaine Gabbert, who has been an NFL bust since being selected in the first round of the 2011 draft.
Vick’s career may not be over, but it is definitely coming to an end.
This seemed to be the case when Vick went to prison in the middle of his prime, but he came back to have an MVP caliber season before completely falling off the face of the earth again. Vick is nowhere to be found in free agency this year and that’s something that may continue into the summer.
It’s highly likely that he finds a job somewhere, but that’s not a guarantee and it’s growing apparent that his starting days are behind him.
