It’s possible that Antonio Cromartie may return to the New York Jets this offseason at a reduced rate, but the Jets certainly aren’t expediting the process if such is to happen.

According to Brian Costello, the Jets are taking their time in regards to potentially re-signing Cromartie, who they cut earlier this month.

"League source on Jets: “Don’t count on them getting Cromartie. They’re not being very aggressive.” #nyj"

Cromartie, despite a laughable appearance in the Pro Bowl is a far cry from the talent he once was with the San Diego Chargers. That’s not to see he’s not adequate any longer, but he’s nothing more than a routine cornerback with a creaky hip. That’s not exactly something you’d rush to sign or back up the Brinks truck for, so the Jets taking their time is understandable.

May they lose Cromartie to another team in free agency? Certainly possible, but he appears to be more of an emergency backup plan rather than somebody they’re looking to bring back.

The Arizona Cardinals have shown interest in the veteran defender recently.
