UFC Fight Night 40 poster revealed

The UFC is heading back to Cincinnati on May 10th for UFC Fight Night 40. In the main event of the evening, hometown favorite Matt Brown will take on the flashy Brazilian striker, Erick Silva.

Today, the UFC revealed the poster on Twitter:

Brown, who is an Ohio native, has been rehabbing a back injury he sustained in training just days before his scheduled bout with Carlos Condit at UFC on FOX 9. Brown is finally healed up and ready to continue his unbelievable run inside the UFC’s Welterweight division. The TUF 7 alum has won 6 straight bouts inside the Octagon, including five TKO/KO’s. Brown is very much in the title picture, and could be one win away from a shot at the UFC Welterweight title.

Silva rebounded from a shocking KO loss to Dong Hyun Kim with his demolition of Takenori Sato at UFC Fight Night 36 last month. It took the Brazilian only 52 seconds to finish the clearly outmatched Sato. The UFC is pushing very hard for Erick Silva to become a breakout star as he headlines for the first time in his career. With little to no Brazilian presence at Welterweight, Silva could become a huge star with a statement victory over Brown in May.
