The Detroit Tigers front office is seemingly never content, despite three straight appearances in the American League Championship.
Granted, thanks to injury, there are holes to fill and the Tigers may be eying the Chicago Cubs to fill those vacancies.
In need of outfield and infield help, the Detroit Tigers have their top scout watching the Cubs this week. Outfielder Nate Schierholtz and middle infielder Darwin Barney are both being evaluated by Tigers long-time executive Scott Reid.
Both Schierholtz and Barney are all but said to be available, so it’s just a matter of the Tigers meeting the Cubs asking price. Then again – we’ve seen the Cubs play hardball in trade talks (recently as this offseason) so Detroit meeting Chicago’s asking price may be easier said than done.
Regardless, the Tigers are clearly in the market to make some moves and the Cubs are understandably on their radar.
