The Los Angeles Dodgers decided to cut ties with former closer Javy Guerra over the weekend, this after Guerra had a horrific 2013 campaign.
However, there’s still believe within the baseball community that Guerra has plenty enough stuff to get the job done – part of that likely stemming from his stellar 2011 and 2012 campaigns.
Because of that, it’s likely that Guerra will either be traded by the Dodgers in the coming days or claimed off waivers, this according to Chris Cotillo.
RHP Javy Guerra, DFA by
#Dodgers over the weekend, expected to be claimed off waivers or traded. Should draw interest.
There’s not a team in Major League Baseball who’s ever completely confident in their bullpen, even those with premier arms so it’s understandable why Guerra would make for an intriguing addition.
There’s little reason not to put in a waiver claim, though a smart team may attempt to engage the Dodgers in a trade beforehand given Guerra’s price tag has to be extremely minimal.
Guerra, just 28-year-old, has not even registered two full seasons of playing time.
