After suffering an injury that almost prevented him from being able to ever walk again, free agent tight end Jermichael Finley is not ready to walk away from the game of football yet and plans on returning in 2014. While he has teams on his radar, doctors still aren’t on board with Finley playing football and he remains without medical clearance to play or practice this spring.

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Finley expected medical clearance in February, and midway though March he still doesn’t have it.

Per Florio:

"Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Finley’s situation remains unchanged.  While Finley believed he’d receive medical clearance by the end of February, medical clearance hasn’t come — and there’s no timetable for it."

This is a tricky case, as Finley is a grown man capable of making his own decisions, but he may be making a very stupid one. Like with Steve Nash, who bluntly said he wants to money that lies ahead of him, it’s easy to sit in a position where there isn’t millions of dollars in front of you and choose health over prosperity.

Doctors will eventually clear Finely and he’ll eventually play again, but he’s going to have to wait a little longer for that to happen if it even happens at all.
