The future of quarterback Michael Vick is still up in the air, but a decision on his immediate future could come very soon. While it was initially reported that the quarterback would wait until after the draft this May to find a team that still needs a starting quarterback, Mike Florio form Pro Football Talk reports that Vick’s decision could lead him to a team we haven’t yet considered.
According to PFT.com, the Tennessee Titans are a team to keep an eye on when it comes to attractive destinations for Vick.
There’s one other team that bears watching: the Titans. Jake Locker is recovering from surgery to repair a Lisfrance injury in his foot. (One league source recently remarked that Locker may still be on crutches.) Beyond Locker, the options are Charlie Whitehurst, Rusty Smith, and Tyler Wilson.
It’s a move that actually makes a ton of sense, as Vick could realistically be the starter for the next few years if all goes well for him with the Titans. The team may draft a quarterback this year but if he’s a later round guy, that would mean a year or two of development, which is ample time for Vick to control the starting position.
A lot can still happen, but the Titans may end up being he best landing spot for Vick when all is said and done.
