We can put any hopes of a potential Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano fight to rest.
There were recently some rumors that the UFC could be working on signing Carano as the next opponent for the current women’s bantamweight champion, but during an appearance on FOX Sports 1’s UFC Tonight, UFC president Dana White announced that the UFC was not in contract negotiations with the woman who initially generated buzz for women’s MMA.
Along with the fact that the UFC is not negotiating with Carano, White announced that the top promotion is no longer negotiating with Holly Holm.
With Holm and Carano now out of the picture, it is going to be interesting to see what the UFC does with Rousey next. The most likely opponents for Rousey would be Cat Zingano or Alexis Davis, but neither have the drawing power that a name like Carano would have.
Of course, that is why the UFC has spent so much time building Rousey up and she has not disappointed thus far.
