The time is almost upon us. After what seems like ages to fans around the world, it is almost time for the Season 4 premiere of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. Over the course of the last few months, the good people at HBO have been releasing a series of featurettes which have given fans a behind the scenes look at the filming and creation of the new season. In one of the latest such pieces, HBO has given fans a look into what it was like filming in Belfast.
As with everything this season on Game of Thrones, the sets have been taken to a new level. On top of looking much bigger than anything we have seen in the series before, some of the sets also look much more perilous. This is in no small part to Location Manager Robert Boake and his crew.
In the featurette, he talks about some of the things they went through preparing the locations for filming, and what they hoped to accomplish when all is said and done.
When filming on location, you are certainly going to run into your fair share of obstacles. Rose Leslie, who plays Ygritte in the series, spoke about a night when it rained really hard on the set and the actors were wading through shin deep water in the middle of the town.
Filming on location certainly does make for a more difficult experience; however, it certainly translates much better to the screen than anything they can hope to accomplish on a green screen in a studio.
Here is a look at the latest featurette for the upcoming season 4 of Game of Thrones.
