Matt Tuiasosopo claimed by Blue Jays

Alex Anthopolous made a move on Thursday to give John Gibbons an extra bench option.

Utility fielder Matt Tuiasosopo was claimed off of waivers after being designated by the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks had claimed him from the Tigers after last season.

Tuiasosopo has experience in left field and the corner infield spots. Last season with Detroit, Tuiasosopo played in 81 games, hitting to the tune of .244/.351/.415 with seven homers and thirty RBI. In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays released left-handed pitcher Luis Perez.
