The 23 year old outfielder suffered the injury this past weekend and was originally diagnosed with a severe left ankle sprain. This could mean that Dickerson may end up on the disabled list to start the 2014 Minor League season. He hit .288/.337/.494 across the line with 17 home runs and 68 RBI’s through 126 at-bats with San Diego’s Double-A affiliate last season.
Dickerson was drafted by the Washington Nationals in 2008 but elected to go to college instead. He took another chance with the draft back in 2011 and was picked up by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Last November, Dickerson was traded to the San Diego Padres for outfielder Jaff Decker and right handed pitcher Miles Mikolas. Dickerson was also listed as the seventh best first base prospect in baseball before the 2013 season began.
