South Carolina Gamecocks’ head coach Steve Spurrier and his squad took a big step towards reloading on offense when they landed a commitment from the 3-star wide receiver Michael Bowman on Thursday.
The 6’0, 195-pounder attends Havelock High School in Havelock, North Carolina.
“It feels good, because I know that this is the school I’m going to stick with. I like that they treated me like I was home,” Bowman told Wes Mitchell of 24/7 Sports. “Basically, the coaches always treated me like I was going to be a good player there and make things happen. It was just a great decision.”
Bowman went on to say the coaches treated him like a “son.”
Although Bowman may have father figures at South Carolina, he will be without his brother. Kyran Bowman, a wide receiver in the class of 2016, gave his pledge to the North Carolina Tar Heels.
Bowman is ranked as the 45th best wide receiver prospect, the 15th best overall prospect in the state of North Carolina and the 361st best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.
Bowman chose the Gamecocks over offers from the Tar Heels and the North Carolina State Wolfpack, among others.
