The 5 Minute Version of The Making of Game of Thrones (Video)

The day is almost upon us. There is only two more weeks until one of the most epic shows on television comes storming back onto our televisions. Of course, I am referring to the hit HBO series Game of Thrones. Earlier this week, the good people at HBO released a short video that detailed the creation of the epic series. Now, you can take a look at it for yourselves.

In the video, which is narrated by Tywin Lannister himself, Charles Dance, we take a look at the long and arduous journey that has been undertaken in an effort to take this epic tale off of the page of best-selling author George R.R. Martin’s pages and onto our television screens.

In the video, we hear from show creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss about some of the obstacles that they have ran into while not only trying to pitch the show to HBO, but to make sure that they do justice to Martin’s epic tale.

Random Fact: Did you know that the average season of Game of Thrones entails 100 locations, 3,000 costumes, 4,000 props, 257 cast members, 703 crew members, 87,014 visual effects frames, and 8 bottles of hot sauce? Don’t ask about the hot sauce.

Just keep that in mind the next time you’re watching an episode of Game of Thrones.

One of the things fans may not know is that it took three years from the moment they decided to move forward with the venture until they were able to get the pilot of the show shot. Then, they ran into an even bigger problem; disapproval.

Thankfully, as we are all aware, the show did finally get made, and has been one of the most watched shows on television since its inception.

Here is a look at the latest featurette from Game of Thrones entitled “Long Story Short.”

Game of Thrones returns for an all-new season on Sunday, April 6th at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
