Bellator 113 predictions and preview

Bellator has an exciting card scheduled tonight in Mulvane, Kansas. Bellator 113 is headlined by the Light Heavyweight title unification bout between interim champion, Emanuel Newton, and Light Heavyweight champion, Atilla Vegh.

The card also features the opening round of the season 10 Lightweight tournament. In the co-main event, former title challenger and tournament winner, David ‘The Caveman’ Rickels, looks to defeat Patricky Pitbull in a fight that is sure to bring fireworks.

Today, I give you my predictions for how the main card fights will go down tonight.

Light Heavyweight World Championship: Attila Vegh vs. Emanuel Newton

Prediction: Emanuel Newton defeats Atilla Vegh by Unanimous Decision

In my opinion, Emanuel Newton won their first bout back at Bellator 72. Newton wants to make a statement tonight that he is the best Light Heavyweight in Bellator, but I don’t think he will get the finish. I think Newton will be able to control the stand up before getting Vegh to the mat whenever he pleases and throw some heavy ground and pound. In the end, Newton will be too much for Vegh to handle.

Patricky Pitbull vs. David Rickels

Prediction: David Rickels defeats Patricky Pitbull by TKO Round 2

This fight is going to be an absolute barnburner. Rickels is easily one of the most exciting fighters in MMA let alone Bellator. He also happens to be a very good fighter as well, and I think he will show that tonight. Pitbull has not looked great as of late, losing 3 of his last four. I think the two men will exchange, testing each other’s chins, and Pitbull will crumble to the mat in the second.

Rodrigo Cavalheiro vs. Marcin Held

Prediction: Marcin Held defeats Rodrigo Cavalheiro by Submission

I know it is a risky pick to have Held win by submission as both men are black belts, but I believe Held will hurt Cavalheiro on the feet before taking it to the mat and choking him out.

Derek Campos vs. Tim Welch

Prediction: Derek Campos defeats Tim Welch by Decision

Both of these men have a huge opportunity tonight and it will be about who wants it more. This fight has the potential to be the fight of the night as both men want to make a statement. In the end, I think Campos takes it in a close fight.
