Egregious late stoppage in Bellator 113 prelims (GIF)

MMA: BFC PPV-Bellator
Bellator 113 is live right now with preliminary action. In the second bout of the evening, a fantastic performance by Daniel Gallemore was marred by an egregious stoppage by referee Chuck Wolfe.

About three minutes into his Heavyweight bout against Fredrick Brown, Gallemore hit Brown with a brutal series of standing elbows and punches on the fence. After a short barrage, Brown was sent careening to the mat face first. Announcers Sean Wheelock and Jimmy Smith were calling for the stoppage, but the referee waited for another 10-15 unanswered strikes before finally stopping the fight.

Fredrick Brown apparently took the bout on only 10 hours notice according to Bellator’s Director of Communications, Anthony Mazzuca:

Both Bjorn Rebney and Jimmy Smith took to Twitter to voice their opinions:

Chuck Wolfe apparently will not be reffing any more bouts this evening:

Ref shouldn’t be allowed to work anymore. I can’t remember a worse late stoppage.

Not that bad…he was still moving, had a bit of a weak defense, really hate to see them stopped far too early
