March Madness 2014: Mercer upsets Duke, Lehigh welcomes Bears to the club on twitter

In the shocker of the NCAA Tournament thus far, the 14th-seeded Mercer Bears shocked the third-seeded Duke Blue Devils in Midwest Region action on Friday, 78-71, marking yet another upset for the Blue Devils by a team seeded 14th or higher.

The last time that happened to Coach K and the Blue Devils, it was at the hands of the Lehigh Mountain Hawks back in March of 2012 when they were a two-seed, and Lehigh was a 15.

Well, in honor of the monumental upset, Lehigh decided that they wanted to welcome Mercer to the club in the best way they possibly could.

Yes, welcome to the club indeed.

Duke held a five point lead with under four minutes to go, but Mercer went on a phenomenal 11-0 run that ultimately resulted in the Blue Devils being ousted from the tournament much earlier than they had planned.

Now, any time that a team plays a highly-seeded Duke team in the tournament, their confidence will only be greater because of the efforts of Lehigh–and now, Mercer.
