The Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Tiquan Underwood, but really all fans need to hear is that the Panthers have signed a wide receiver — no matter who he is. That speaks both the no-name quality Underwood brings as well as the sheer desperation that Panthers have to find bodies to fill the wide receiver depth chart.
It’s not that Underwood is a bad option, but the Panthers grand search to replenish a receiving corps they broke up has led them to guys you really wouldn’t regard ass stud options on offense.

The reaction fans are having makes it sound like Underwood isn’t good, but the anger is focused more towards the bungled offseason the front office has had more than it’s directed at the poor guys being brought in. Underwood was a low option on a bad Buccaneers offense in 2013 but he’s likely to be a No. 2 option for the Panthers.
Not out of talent, but out of desperate necessity.
