Ottawa Senators' Ales Hemsky with the NHL goal of the year (Video)

Ottawa Senators fans haven’t had many things to cheer for this season as they currently sit in a tie for 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings and are going to miss the playoffs, but what they saw last season from Ales Hemsky may be the highlight of the season.

Hemsky undresses Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Radko Gudas with relative ease then unleashed a dirty dangle around goalie Ben Bishop for what has to be on the short list for the goal of the year.

Hemsky was acquired by the Senators in a deadline deal with the Edmonton Oilers for a third and fifth round draft pick. The move has been a good one as he has two goals and six assists in seven games for Ottawa, although it seems like it is going to be too little and too late for the Senators to make a playoff push.

The Senators are nine points behind the Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers who are tied for the final postseason spot, but at least they have the potential highlight of the year.
