Osi Umenyiora will return to the Atlanta Falcons in 2014 and will not be asked to take a pay cut, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution after there was some uncertainty whether the veteran defensive end would need to accept a reduced salary to remain with the team he signed a two-year deal with last season.

Umenyiora,32, had 7.5 sacks in his first season with the Falcons and carries a $4.75 million dollar salary cap hit with a $2.5 million dollar base salary.

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff has made the defensive line a priority in free agency with the signings of Tyson Jackson and Paul Soliai to bring in more toughness.

The team also announced Kroy Biermann will be with the team in 2014 and will not restructure his deal, buthe headliner is Umenyiora who could transition into a situational pass-rusher as he did at the end of last season and be a veteran leader in the clubhouse.
