It seems that the Atlanta Braves have gotten nothing but bad news so far in Spring Training, losing Kris Medlen and Brandon Beachy for the 2014 season to Tommy John surgery.
Of some consolation might good news on the offensive side of things. Second baseman Dan Uggla, the $62 million man, is looking to turn things around after a truly disastrous 2013 campaign. His Spring Training has been solid, as he is batting .256 with three home runs and 10 RBI. More importantly he is getting on base at a .400 clip.
Spring Training statistics are always taken with a grain of salt, but if Uggla could somehow right the ship offensively it would be a boost for the Braves as they compete with the Washington Nationals atop the National League East. On Saturday Uggla kept things going with a home run off Boston Red Sox starter John Lackey.
