Longtime Bantamweight contender, Ivan Menjivar, is the latest to receive the axe from the UFC brass as he has been released from the organization according to his manager, Mitch Mayberger.
Menjivar is currently on a three fight losing streak that began against Urijah Faber back at UFC 157. After submitting to a rear naked choke that night, Menjivar went on to lose two unanimous decisions in a row to Wilson Reis and Hatsu Hioki respectively.
There is no doubt the Menjivar’s career has hit a slump. After winning three in a row in his return to the UFC from 2011-2012, Menjivar has since gone 1-4 leading to receiving his pink slip.
Throughout his career, Menjivar has fought many of the best mixed martial artists the world has to offer ranging from Welterweight to Bantamweight. Back in 2002, Menjivar took on Georges St-Pierre in GSP’s professional debut, losing via TKO. Menjivar also fought Matt Serra, Joe Lauzon, Brad Pickett, and many more during his illustrious career.
At this time, Menjivar apparently wants to continue his MMA career. Could Menjivar be Bellator or WSOF bound? FanSided will keep you informed when any new details or information on Menjivar’s status becomes available.
