Kansas City Royals give singer Lorde 'Royals' treatment

Grammy Award winning pop artist Lorde is best known for singing the lyrics, “we’ll never be royals”, but as seen in SI.com’s Extra Mustard site, the MLB’s Kansas City Royals decided she deserved to be given the royal treatment.

The song, which smacks of talk about overdone club life and bling, was actually inspired by Kansas City Royals legend, George Brett, which prompted the team to send the New Zealand native an autographed George Brett jersey.

Lorde found her inspiration for her hit tune when she saw a picture of Brett autographing baseballs in a back issue of National Geographic magazine, which the singer collects.

The motto? Never say never I guess.
