Steve Fisher and his San Diego State Aztecs team will be playing on as they advanced to the Sweet 16 on Saturday with a convincing win over the North Dakota State Bison, 63-44.

The Cinderella slipper didn’t last long on the Bison, as San Diego came out and controlled things right from the early going, taking a seven-point lead into the half and never looking back in the final 20 minutes to walk away with the victory.

Xavier Thames put on an absolute show in this one to help the Aztecs move on, dropping in 30 points and adding in six assists with one rebound and one steal, more or less taking out the Bison all on his own.

Dwayne Polee was the second-most efficient player for San Diego State on the afternoon, contributing 15 points with six rebounds.

All season long, San Diego State looked the part of a top-10 team, and that was no different on Saturday as they’ll now continue their quest for the national championship.
