A report on Friday hinted that then free agent quarterback Michael Vick was concerned about his number when signing with a new team.

Vick has worn number seven during his collegiate and professional career and even has a clothing company entitled ‘V7’, so it’s understandable why the signal caller was concerned about his number.

The report did state that the number wasn’t a deal breaker and that proved to be true as just hours later, Vick signed a one-year contract with the New York Jets.

Ironically enough, the man wearing his #7 jersey was that of fellow quarterback Geno Smith – the man Vick will compete against for a starting job. So is Vick going to pony up the cash in effort to secure his famed numeral? Apparently not as Rich Cimini says Vick will find a new number.

"Geno Smith will wear No. 7. Vick says he’ll find a new number. #nyj"

A little odd that Vick isn’t going to try and buy the number of Smith, but then again he’s already coming in attempting to take his job – taking his number would just be insult to injury.
