The South Carolina Gamecocks landed their fifth commitment for the class of 2015 today in four-star cornerback Mark Fields (Cornelius, N.C. William Amos Hough) who chose South Carolina over the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs.
“It was the best fit for me,” Fields first told 247Sports. “It’s where I need to be. It’s close to home so my family can see me play.”
The 5-10.5, 183-pound Fields is the nation’s No. 111 overall recruit, No. 11 cornerback and No. 4 player in teh state of North Carolina, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He was recruited by offensive line coach Shawn Elliott and by cornerbacks coach Grady Brown.
Fields tells 247Sports, “They are getting a top-notch athlete that can play multiple positions. I can play cornerback, safety or nickel. I have a lot of football knowledge and am a great athlete.”
As a junior Fields recorded 45 tackles and three interceptions.
South Carolina now owns the No. 15 class with the commitment of Fields and rank eighth in the SEC.
