The Philadelphia Eagles appear to be trying their hardest to trade wide receiver DeSean Jackson. He isn’t willing to restructure his deal to facilitate a trade, and at the NFL owners meetings San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke announced his team’s involvement with Jackson.

“Right now, he’s under contract with the Philadelphia Eagles,” Baalke told CSN Bay Area on Sunday. “We’ve not made any contact with the Eagles relative to a trade for DeSean Jackson.”

As for the rumors that the 49ers were among the teams to call about Jackson Baalke said: “As of this moment, those reports are totally misleading and false.”

For Jackson, refusing to restructure his deal to facilitate a trade is about forcing his release, which grants him control over which team he goes to. For the 49ers, waiting for his release means potentially getting him for less than the $10.5 million he is set to earn in 2014.
