It seems like every time Blake Griffin touches the ball, it results in a dunk – more often an alley-oop.
And that’s exactly what happened on Saturday night, although, it wasn’t exactly Griffin who ended up throwing down the hammer jam.
With the Los Angeles Clippers holding a fourteen point lead over the Detroit Pistons in the third quarter, Jamal Crawford saw a streaking Griffin and lobbed it up to the rim for an alley-oop. Only problem? The pass was a bit ill-timed and that lead to Griffin adjusting on the fly, forcing him to put up a circus shot instead of the alley-oop.
Griffin missed the underhand reverse, but teammate DeAndre Jordan was right there to clean up the mess.
Unfortunately for Griffin, he was still directly under the hoop when Jordan came smashing through, all but posterizing him.
Maybe for a moment, Blake felt the kind of embarrassment he’s bestowed upon so many other NBA athletes.
All was well in the end though, as the Clippers continued their march towards the postseason with an easy victory over the Pistons.
