While the vast majority of ‘big names’ have signed, there are still talented players available in the NFL free agent pool – one of which is linebacker Arthur Moats.
Moats may not have the same type of impact name as defenders who’ve already signed with their respective teams, but the 26-year-old is still quite serviceable in a starting position.
A former sixth round pick, Moats spent the last four seasons with the Buffalo bills but will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.
Steelers to meet with free agent LB Arthur Moats, probably on Monday. RB LaGarrette Blount pushed back to Friday.
Moats should come relatively cheap (at least in terms of comparison to other linebackers) and would probably be put into a rotation with Pittsburgh, but they could certainly do worse than signing the former James Madison product.
It’s also possible if the Steelers don’t find anything to their liking in the 2014 NFL Draft, they could simply sign Moats to start alongside Lawrence Timmons.
The Cleveland Browns have also been rumored to have interest in Moats.
