There was another scary situation on Sunday involving a major league pitcher and a line drive coming off the bat, and it involved Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Matt Moore.
In their spring training contest against the AL East rival Boston Red Sox, Moore was hit in the face with a line drive coming off the bat of Xander Boegart.
Moore tried to get the glove up in time, but that’s a little easier said than done, and he took the pitch right to the face instead.
Luckily, though, it appeared that the only damage that was done was a cut on his lip. He was taken off the field on a cart, though, which is simply a precautionary measure.
You hate to see scenes like this, especially with that happened last week the Reds’ pitcher Aroldis Chapman, who was tagged in the head with a line drive and required surgery.
